VOLUNTEER
We are thankful for the incredible volunteers who support us regularly at Lisaard & Innisfree Hospice. They come with a ready smile, and an attitude of service and gratitude. A typical volunteer shift is three to four hours in a day.
We are supported by two types of Volunteers:
INDIRECT-SERVICE
Volunteers who provide practical operational support to Lisaard & Innisfree Hospice. Most of these volunteers are required to complete a classroom training course 10 hours in length before starting in their role. Positions include, but are not limited to:
- Reception
- Kitchen (meal prep, kitchen helper, baking)
- Laundry
- Gardening
- Maintenance
- Fundraising
- Special Events Planning
- Administration/Finance
DIRECT-SERVICE
Volunteers who directly support residents during their final days. All direct-service volunteers must complete a combination of classroom and online training up to 35 hours in length before starting in their role. Positions include:
- Resident Care (assisting with feeding, repositioning, reading, writing, talking, assisting with our Art from the Heart Legacy Program, vigiling, or simply providing a supportive and comforting presence)
- Music
- Complementary therapies (i.e. Reiki, TT, RMT massage)
- Nail care
- Hairdressing
Every volunteer plays a valuable role – their contributions are so important to the ongoing operation of our Houses, and are greatly appreciated! For more information, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator at 519-208-5055 ext. 258 or click here to email.
Police checks and a record of immunization are required for a volunteer to join our team. All volunteers must complete some training requirements annually.
