The journey of grief will be unique to each individual experiencing the loss of a loved one. Though it can be difficult, exploring thoughts and feelings related to a significant loss is healthy, necessary, and normal. We recognize that offering a variety of opportunities that help support these diverse needs in our community is an integral part of the healing process.
In addition to our existing programs, we’ve introduced some new ways we can help support your bereavement journey. If you find any of them appealing, please reach out to our Bereavement Coordinator by email or by phone 519.591.6524 – we look forward to hearing from you.
When words fail, music speaks – and we can help support your grief through music. Facilitated by our Music Therapist, we ‘ll travel together on an eight-week journey to help you explore ways of coping. No musical experience is required to participate – if you enjoy music, there’s a place for you here.
Exercise and being in nature can be helpful ways to support well-being in grief. Facilitated by trained volunteers, this group will meet weekly for outside walking on the beautiful trails surrounding Innisfree House.
We Remember Memorial
Planning has begun for an in-person memorial on Wednesday, June 14, to honour family and friends who have died. To find out more about our first We Remember Memorial that took place virtually in 2021, our Social Worker, Music Therapist, and Bereavement Coordinator talk about it in this video.
Coffee Time is an informal weekly social group at Innisfree House offering space for friendly conversation and connection. Coffee, tea, and light refreshments will be available.
Family Time is a facilitated group for family or friends who lost a loved one in one of our Houses, offering an opportunity for sharing, helping, and learning after a loss. Family Time gathers the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month (10:30am – 12:30pm at Innisfree House; 6:30pm -8:30pm at Lisaard House).
