This team is made up of experienced palliative nurses who demonstrate clinical expertise, knowledge and professionalism to help coach and mentor our clinical staff.
The resource team includes: Martha Karn, Maria Empringham, Susan Flemming, Christina Kropf and Sue Harvey. The Clinical Resource Nurse team works collaboratively with the Resident Care Managers to look after day to day operations with the hospices.
This nursing leadership role manages the majority of resident intake and placement and works to ensures a smooth transition of residents to the hospice.
In collaboration with the Resident Care Managers, this team ensures that the resident care needs are based on the individual resident’s goals, Best Practice Guidelines and the principles of hospice palliative care that are established by the Canadian Hospice Palliative Care Association. The Clinical Resource Nurse participates in clinical rounds, Quality Assurance and Health and Safety Committees. This role ensures that all clinical policies and procedures are current and available to staff to support excellence in quality resident centred care. This team facilitates strong working relationships with residents, families, inter-professional team members and community partners.
